About Maria the Filipina
Maria the Filipina is a YouTube channel, a set of free guides and three books that explain love, family and everyday life in the Philippines to foreign men who want to visit, move or retire here.
What we cover
Most of our readers are men over 50, many of them American, who are planning a new life in the Philippines. Many hope to share it with a good partner. We explain the things nobody tells them: how Filipinas think about love, how courtship works here, what her family expects, and how to spot the money scams that hurt so many men.
Maria presents the channel in a warm, honest voice, like a Filipina friend over coffee. The topics are the ones viewers ask about most in the comments.
How the guides are made
Each guide starts from questions viewers ask. It draws on Filipino culture and family life, on what couples and expats around us share, and on official sources for facts like visas, wages and laws. Those sources are listed at the bottom of each guide. Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and we update guides when rules change.
The short stories in the guides and books are illustrative examples based on common experiences. Names and details are changed.
What we do not do
- We do not offer introductions, matchmaking or a dating service.
- We do not give legal, financial or immigration advice. Rules change, so always check with the embassy, the Bureau of Immigration or a lawyer.
- We do not publish reviews we cannot verify.
